Tiled roofs
Tiled roofs are a timeless and popular choice for homeowners, offering both protection and aesthetic appeal.
In this page, we'll explore the benefits, types, and maintenance of tiled roofs, making it easier for you to choose and care for the perfect roof for your home.
When to replace roof tiles?
You may need to renew your tiled roof in the following situations:
- After a roof leakage
- If your roof flashing is cracked
- When your tiles are old or porous
- After storm damage or missing tiles
- When moss is growing on your tiles.
Advantages of roof tiles as roofing material
For your roof, you have a choice of various types of roofing materials. Sedum roofing and bitumen roofing, for example, are increasingly popular options among many households. However, the most popular roofing material is still the old reliable roof tile. A tiled roof is most suitable for pitched roofs and is therefore still one of the best choices for a sloping roof.
There are several advantages to having a good tiled roof. We have listed the most important advantages for you:
A tiled roof requires little maintenance
A tiled roof requires relatively little maintenance, which is one of its main advantages. With a tiled roof, you don't have to worry about anything. Just have a roof inspection done (half) annually and enjoy a dry roof over your head for years to come. This way, you don't have to climb onto the roof yourself and the roof tiles will last for years. Local repairs are easy for us as a roofer to carry out.
Long lifespan of roof tiles
Having roof tiles installed is a sustainable investment. A tiled roof lasts a very long time, about 30 to 50 years. Roof tiles are a bit more expensive compared to other roofing materials, but it's worth the investment.
Resistant to various weather conditions
A roof covered with roof tiles is resistant to severe weather conditions. Your tiled roof will remain intact in all kinds of weather. In addition, roof tiles are extremely waterproof, which reduces the risk of roof leaks.
Good water drainage
Thanks to the sloping roof and the overlapping roof tiles, rainwater can be drained neatly towards the gutter. This ensures that there is little to no water nuisance during heavy rain showers.
Types of roof tiles we lay
We lay concrete and ceramic roof tiles from brands such as Monier, Koramic, Eternit, Lafarge, and Nelskamp. The type of tile we recommend depends on the neighboring roofs and what tile best suits your house and the surrounding area. Often, we choose a similar tile, but a newer model. If concrete or ceramic tiles were previously used, we often choose the same type of tile when replacing your roof tiles. If you have a detached house, you do not have to take into account surrounding roofs and you have complete freedom in choosing the type of tile you want us to lay.
How much does it cost to replace ridge tiles?
The costs of laying roof tiles depend entirely on the size of your roof, whether the roof tiles need to be completely replaced or just a part of them. In addition, the cost of removing the old roof tiles is also included in the total cost estimate. Therefore, we cannot estimate the costs in advance without inspecting the roof. To provide an accurate cost estimate, we come to inspect your roof free of charge before giving a quote. On average, you can expect costs between €180 and €350 per m2.
